Runners

Hi everyone! It's been a quite long time since the last time I posted my blog. The truth is I have no time to write because my schedule for 6th year is so tight, even I forgot to see my dentist for regular braces check up, already 2 days past. Sigh, God bless me.

Luckily, the subjects for this year are quite fun, which are surgery, obstetric and gynecology plus two Islamic subjects, Aqidah and Sirah. I love surgery! It makes me feel like I am the true doctor. I want to be a surgeon so bad when I was in my first year, but then,  after thinking deeply, I better choose to be a dermatologist rather than to be a surgeon because it is easier and less risk? bolehlaa, either way, I really want to be a specialist one day, Ameen.

For the past 1 week of my new semester, my regular routine workout has been a yoga and also an ABS workout. I do it like once in every 2 days because I have a lot of things to be settled down, like visa and stuff. Plus, my class started at 7.30 freaking a.m. until 3 p.m. with no gap in between and Friday is the only free day that I have. Phewww, I want sushi.

So, since I have a very limited time to do workout for this year, I try to find an easy routine and finally I found this which is the combination of yoga and pilates with a few minutes of full body stretching! click this. It is so relaxing and easy, you guys should try this too. Especially for those who's having a back pain and stressful lifestyle like students and doctors. Lol, just kidding.

This morning I joined Cairo's runners event which be held in Zamalek, which is the weekly event for every Friday morning. Since Friday is my 'sleep day' so usually I didnt join this event, but this morning I have the urge to do cardio (jogging) because I had left my cardio routine for more than 1 week. They named it as ' We Run Cairo' and today's their second anniversaries, so they made a theme of 'color run' for celebration. All of the candidates are fit and looks healthy including the elders, hands down. Apparently this is my first time to join this kind of event and it was a precious new experience for me because it was so fun, really!

Those are some pictures of  my friends and I after the running.

..and this is me with Dr. Mohamed Sawwy. Founder of  Sawwy's Culture Wheel, the place where they've been held this event for every weeks. He's so fit guys because of the first 2 km I ran closely behind him and then of course he left me because he's too fast while I am too pancit (exhausted) to run as fast as him.
 Sigh, shame on you Ameera.

Until next time!

That tiny lil' fear..

When I woke up this morning, out of the blue, I got a text message from my close friend, she's thin and tall. She asked me about a very common question that people always asked me, it's about eating habits. This is some of the common questions that I always been asked :

How to control your eating habits?
How could you survive by not eating at night? Some of my friends told me that they're the hungriest person ever at night.
How do you control your sugar crave?
How do you not to love foods Ameera? I love food guys, I am human remember?
How do you keep your spirits high and routinely do workout?

First and foremost, I didn't expect I will get a question from thin person like her, but you know women nowadays eager to look thin and when it comes to 1 additional kg, it does mean that we need to do something about this 1 kg of weight. Sounds crazy, but that's really happening to women nowadays, most of us I believe. I think that fear is good. Most of the fat people didn't have this kind of fear, that's why.

So I told my friend that I eat right. When I said I eat right, it means I eat healthy food, in the right time, in the right amount, in the right portion and by using the right hand. Okay the last one is not the necessary tips, but as Muslims we use right hand to eat, it's Sunnah! By the right amount I mean is, I eat in small portion like 3/4 of the medium sized plate and I will stop eating immediately when I am full.

Then I explained about the foods I eat, basically I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, not a lot like two or three times per day, it's like a lot A LOT LOT (1 kg of oranges I can finish in 2 days, and like 1 kg of bananas I can finish them like two or three days with eating an apple every day) So some people asked me about snacks I took daily, then simply I answer, fruits.

I eat rice like almost every day, I am Asian so rice is our staple food. Asian can't live without rice, but I didn't eat rice at night. It means after 7 to 8 p.m. When I am hungry, I preferred to eat fruits, crackers, whole gained bread or just drink a glass of milk. It makes you feel not hungry, but not full. Better than starving. At least you didn't die right? Okay, joking.

Yes, undeniably, at the beginning you will feel that you're going to die starving at night, but trust me, after 21 days it will become your habit. Yeah, quite long, but the benefits are worth for a lifetime. Hold your horses guys, trust me, it does work. Your mind will get used to it and your mind will tell your stomach that you are not hungry and no food needed at this moment.

Next, I told her about not eating sugary food every day, it is so dangerous since sugar can lead to cancer, diabetes mellitus, or even obesity. Sugar is the major problem to most of us since every food that have a lot of sugar in it like cakes, apam balik, cendol, strawberry milkshake are finger-lickin good right? Hands down.

It is hard to avoid eating sugar Ameera do you understand me? Yes, I do.

I have this one friend that having a sweet tooth like almost every single day, she's fat. So I advise her to stop eating sugary food and she loses almost 10 kg guys within 3 months, trust me. Once you make it as your routine, it will become your habit. Try to avoid sugar, not totally stop eating it, but slowly reducing your amount of consumption is more than enough.

The next thing I tell her about the workout, for sure. She used to jog almost every day when she is studying in University, but now she has finished her studies and she has no time to jogging like she used to do. So that's the major factor too, not doing exercises. So I advise her to do a cardio workout at home, not too long just 15 minutes is more than enough, I always do this workout guys, check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HJcmTCKGqY  . This is an intense cardio workout yet so effective. Every time I did this workout I will perspiring a lot. It means that it does work! For those who are so busy with works, studies and stuff, try to do the short, intense workout it helps to lose weight, for sure, to increase metabolism, to make you sweat and it makes you feel overbold! Especially for those who are always feel jaded like all the time, yes, this is the answer.

That's it! Nothing is going overboard, everything is so basic and super easy. It depends on you whether you want to do it or not. Hopefully this very humble tippytoes of mine are helpful for my friend and for all of my readers too! Thanks for reading until the end :)

Oh by the way, today I didn't do any workout because I have to finalise my visa for this year a.k.a my final year. I get so excited, can't wait to finish my studies. Now I need a very deep sleep for my routine workout tomorrow and for a better day! hehe. Life is so amazing when we do not have any commitment in it, like to study every day, to go to work or to settle some assignments and the topper is when you're on holiday! It feels like AHHHHHHHH...

This picture was taken when I'm in Rome. This place is so amazing, it is called  The Circus Maximus.  I miss Rome so bad.

Only God knows how much I love the holiday! Until next time!

Merdeka (Independent) day for me !

Now listening : selah sue - fyah fyah
It's always been my favourite song since ever.
Hello guys! So finally I've finished my final exam! It was like the best feeling everrrr. Hopefully my doctors LOVE my answers and they can give me high marks, ameen. Pray for me guys. This year is so long for me as it took one year and a half to finish it. It's been my second winter and I just finished my semester, does it take too long? Yes, definitely it does. Hands down. So I have another 1 year to finish my studies. I can't wait! Oh, by the way, medical course in Egypt  took 6th years of studies not as in Malaysia and I believe most of the countries too, that need 5 years to finish medical school. I don't know how does the system runs, but I am pretty sure that I don't care about it and I enjoyed every bit of my day studying in Egypt since it's been five years I'm living here, I think that Egypt is a pretty exotic country, really.

So, as I've told you in my previous post that I'll start back my routine workout, and thus today is the day, the best day ever. I miss doing the workout so bad even I've lost almost 70% of my stamina but who cares. I need to get back in shape. I did intense cardio today because my fat seems already took over my muscles which is so not cool. It took only 30 minutes because I can't proceed it anymore, how sad it was haha. I believe that it's normal for all of us too, for those who had left the workout for so long, or for those who just about to start workout/ exercises/ aerobic / zumba and etc. Yes it's so difficult to start especially for the first time. First time is usually the hardest, trust me. It's like you have to wake up so sudden while you're in deep sleep. Yeah, pretty hard though.

This morning after I woke up, I knew that I have to workout and I felt so lazy like I am the laziest person on earth to get off my bed. That's post-examination syndrome I believe. So how could I get the strength to do my routine?  As you know, I love watching the models, fashion show, pretty celebrities and stuff. So I decided to watch Victoria Secret's commercial this morning, I picked up randomly in YouTube and watched all the commercials even though I'd watched them like almost 10 times. So as usual, a person like me is so easily get affected by the model's body and stuff, so that goes my motivational strength. Yeah, it sounds easy right, just let me watch models or scroll their pictures in instagram, later on I will workout like a beast. So you can try it too. You can search any models that you love like Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes or even Natalia Vosianova, they are inspiring much despite of they're already have kids but still they look smoking hot. Like what?

Doutzen Kroes, mom of two.

Let's forget about the models shall we? We are not them, we have our own story and our own life right? But it's not wrong to look up for them if you need strength like I did and hopefully it'll work for you too. The most important things is you yourself. Your willingness to do it or not to do it. To stay fit and to lose weight. To commit with regular exercises and to eat healthy. As I said previously, it's always the hardest when it goes to the ' first time' but trust me it'll get easier when you do it repeatedly.

So, dear reader, there goes my post examination day. I also did some cleaning because you know books are everywhere and so did the dust. I am so happy that I've finished my fifth year and I have 7 days of semester break then my final year will get started. Yes 7 days holiday. Sleep is my priority now as I've lost hours of my sleep since last month. The bed looks 10 times more attractive than before. I guess I need to sleep now. So guys, hope you too have a great weekend and a great holiday! Do not forget to stay active and healthy ! God bless you.

I witness..

It is so devastating every time I heard people are dying because of diseases. I don't know how can I be a doctor when me myself, sometimes, can't endure seeing people dying in front of me. I have seen this few times, dying people of heart attack, in front of me. It was so not cool, really. As I am just a student, the less thing I could do is to see and keep praying for the patient. I can't focus well on the drugs and the procedures that the doctors did that meant to be my priority to take note of. The worst part is I am struggling hard to not to cry as I am the future doctor so what on earth the function of tears to treat serious cases like that? Yeah, that's the major problem for me though, and most of the young doctors I guess. We will get used to this maybe in 10 years? I hope so.

Most of us hate to hear about this too, right? About dying people that fighting on their diseases or even worse for those who are counting days to die. We can't live forever, that's for sure, but at least let's do our very best effort to avoid as much as we could from getting sick. The most common diseases nowadays are heart attacks or what we called as myocardial infarction and of course, cancer.  The number one killer in the world.

Most of us know about the fact of bad foods can lead us to these diseases. Yes, I am pretty sure about it. Most of us choose to ignore it too by eating high amounts of sugar every day, oily and fatty food without feeling guilty of themselves. I can't blame on those who are growing up with  this lifestyle. That is why we called it a ' lifestyle' because we are doing it every day.

Sometimes I feel so thankful to God because He gave me an opportunity to witness of the dying people in front of me. I wish I can share with you my feeling at that very moment. I felt so sad and scared, indeed. The most things that make me terrified is when the doctor said the patient died because he/she was an alcoholic, because the patient was a heavy smoker, because the patient had a severe atherosclerosis in her/ his main artery because the obesity that he/she had before, or the patient died because he/she had cancer. I wish I have magic to heal them.

So guys, please take care of our health. I didn't say that I'll be healthy forever, even people can die while they are taking a selfie. My point is we have to avoid harmful things that might affect our lives. I hate to hear people sick and I hate to see people died in front of me even though I will be a doctor in the future. Sincerely I am so ready to help and treat sick people, but seeing them in painful really makes me teary, as it is my pain too.

We only have one chance to live. Use it wisely. Enjoy every bit of it. Do not forget to eat healthy, do exercises regularly, be positive and be happy.  You can choose to be happy, it is an optional, and indeed it is our major goal of life, to be happy. Being sick is not cool at all, even when we have a fever we tend to be monyok (moody) all the time right?
Until next time, thanks for reading and God bless you.

Few pictures of my friends and I at Dr. Nadia's farewell party last week. We already miss you Nadia.
We had so much fun that night, because indeed friends bring so much happiness to me, syukur.

URGH BIG BUM !

Hello everyone! hope you guys have a great weekends. Yep its been quite a hectic and 'full of brain squeezing' month for me. I'm even too tired to describe them so yeah lets talk about big bum shall we? especially for those who's having major fat distribution to 'that' part. Some of you might think it is so sexy and hot when it goes to big butt, yeah I do agree too, especially for those who are squatting. I mean who are doing a workout called 'squats'. I will share the video later. The main point here is, I am trying to help those who are uncomfortable of their butt that make them look fat especially when their wearing tight jeans or dresses. As for me, those excess fat , at 'that' particular part, in my body is a major problem and that's the reason why I  need to loose weight.

Its a massive problem right? everything from hair to toes are perfect and it sucks to have something annoying bulging through your back. Like so ANNOYING especially when you have to tuck your shirt in. Its like trying to highlight your massive ugly bum to the crowd's attention.

except for those at the back

So, here's some tips to fix things up. Do commit and your problem will be solved !

1) Eat less calories. The more you take and chances of you breeding fat in your bum gets higher. Women tend to have most of the fat stored in their hips and thigh especially Asian women, not all but most of them. This is also true for some men who have higher amount of female hormones in their body. This is genetics by the way but the thing you can change is the calories part. Easy folks. Simply you just have to reduce your calories intake per day and it will automatically reduce the stored fat. Easy right? Avoid eating 3 to 4 hours before you go to sleep because you need some time to burn that calories first and to avoid it to store in our body as fat. Especially when you have a very high calories for dinner like double cheese burger or few slices of pizza or even nasi lemak kukus with ayam goreng berempah? OMG I love nasi lemak so bad! please eat nasi lemak at the morning guys because in Malaysia, some of us eat nasi lemak even for supper! This is the major mistake I suppose and please avoid eating any type of nasi (rice) at night, because rice content high calorie since it is a carbohydrate that can change to fat when we took in excess.

2) Get your body moving this doesn't always mean you need to get in your gym clothes and sweat your ass off, instead you can do simple things in a way that your body moves more. Use stairs instead of the elevator, ride a bike to work, stand more, gardening, dance to chores! Go travel ! Do move as much as you could. As for me , I am using stairs a lot, like A LOT. I live in the fifth floor in Egypt and my building doesn't have lift so we have to use stairs. Yes everyday, 5th floor. Some of my classes  in 11th floor, 7th and 5th floor too, yep, I am using stairs. For me, I am plain lucky to have this opportunity to use stairs like everyday since I need to burn those fats on my thigh especially, yeah because I am Asian, big thigh is our forte. So why don't you try this method too? Use stairs !

3) Squats. Come on do it. Start from a small number and gradually increase till you can do like 200 in one night. Its worth it. Squats give a better shape to the butt and obviously it'll burn calories, if you cant reach the best size that you want at least you have an athlete or shall I say a fit look. I used to do this everyday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGvzVjuY8SY and I used to repeat it like 2 to 3 times per day, because squats are addictive especially after u get the result. Yes I really mean it. For the beginners, start with 10 times per day or even less. It will help though, trust me.

4) Get Yourself a Role model  perhaps models, actors, athletes should do. Look up for them and that shall keep your spirit burnt. To initiate is one thing, to maintain is another. As for me, I love how models look, they are so pretty right? Some of them having a perfect body and the most important thing is how they taking care of their health, most of them eat clean, super healthy, but some of them eat so little amount of foods, this kind of models are more to anorexic type. Do not follow this habits okay guys? You need to eat, your body need energy to functioning well. What you need to do is to eat healthy foods for example eat extra fruits and veges everyday. Simple right?

So, that's it guys ! give it a go. Once you're hooked to these, try to get people around your circle to join you. Okay need to get immersed back in clinical medicine. Tough exams coming up. I'll see you guys later! Thanks for reading until the end, god bless you.

Not so random to be an awesome..

The title is not related at all with my post actually, what I want to share is I just finished my second paper of Internal Medicine today. 2 down and 6 to go (this is the real deal)! Yeayy (?) So my paper today is a written essay and multiple choice question. It was quite tough though, but yeah, every year the questions are so tough for me, not to say that I am used to it, but yeah, this is what I needed to survive and to become a doctor. One year and another half left, and I am officially done with my degree, InsyaAllah. I know every course in this world is so difficult though, and yeah, I know of course you do feel what I feel don't you? Especially for those who are still a student like me. Keep going guys do not quit! Oh btw for those who are reading my blog, I thank you for spending your precious time for this. I really  didn't expect and thank you so much again.

Sorry for not helping much as now I am struggling for my final exams. No routine workout I do in this moment because I have no time to do so, even I have no time to eat. It has usually happened to me and to my friends as well, especially when we are in the final exam's mood. So what I do is I eat good food, drink a lot of plain water, avoid refined sugar and fatty food. Anyway, I am so lucky because I am not a fan of those sugary foods or a fatty food. Since I started my healthy diet I don't feel to eat those types of foods, indeed they are so delicious I can't deny, but yeah, I don't eat those kind of foods as much as I did before.  For those who want to start a diet program, try  to avoid this kind of food first (and hopefully forever), as much as possible, I beg.

Do you know that sugary and high calorie food like excess carbohydrates and oily foods can increase the risk to get cancer. Do you know that we all have this cancer cells in our body? Yes, definitely we do have it. One of the factors that make this cancer cell to proliferate is those bad foods that I mentioned  previously. Believe me.

In the previous post I did share a link about sugar and it did mention about the relation between sugar and cancer. So for those who are not watching, let's make this short, glucose or sugar is the 'food' for the cancer cell in our body to 'grow' and to be 'active' inspite of the other factors like genetic, irradiation, stress and smoking cigarette. So prevention is better than cure right? Sounds cliche, but cliche's things do work every time, that's why it is cliche. ahha

The other thing I do is I drink green tea and lemon ginger tea like almost everyday. Yes, everyday because I love the taste so much. Do you know that green tea can make you distress? So yeah, it works for me and may work for you too. Please, please try it first and you will understand what I mean by 4 to 5 cups per day. Sounds crazy, but yeah. I did. Oh, I put some honey in my green tea too, and I promise you it tastes so magnificently good. That is why my body weight is not increasing even though I don't work out anymore, because of the green tea (and few factors like not eating much and etc, its like lazy to eat and stuff, stuff like... Ok)

Since I didn't do any workout for past 3 weeks, I think my body did change in the form of consistency. Can I say that? Consistency? Anyway, what I mean is I have no more those muscles line and etc, if you do work out like me you'll know exactly what I mean. All become shrunken, and fading away. It's okay for me because our body, tends to change that way when we are not doing physical exercises anymore but it will appear back I promise. The key is to start to do the workout consistently. I will postponed until I finish my final exam, which is in December. I can't wait! It feels like forever.

So, dear reader, do some improvement in your eating habits because it does bring a lot of changes in your future, in the form of health, especially because having a good health is so priceless, unless you are lucky enough to be healthy for the rest of your life in spite of eating bad food every day. I do learn about many diseases related to eating habits like cancer, heart attack, hypertension and many more and I hope I can share every detail about the diseases here, unfortunately I am not a text book. So I'm just sharing the main and easiest point for you to practice it in your daily life. I didn't say that I'll be healthy forever, but prevention is better than? Yes, true. At least I try and you too can try it too! (More to 'you have to!' actually but masing masing la kan. No pressure)

Thanks again for reading until the end, god bless you.
I think I need a long, deep sleep because I have an exam soon. Nuit ! xx

Oh, before that, here is a few pictures that I really want to share with you.
My friends and I went out for some fresh air after our first paper last week, look at  our zombified face!  Actually, I don't care since it was a Halloween's night so yeah.. Coincidentally...

Happy Halloween everyone !

The awesome part of Egypt
